***

Sonatina for two clarinets is a single movement piece in the form of sonata with its characteristic sections. As in typical sonata one can identify the juxtaposition of two musical themes: the first radiating persistence and energy and the second serenity and melodiousness. In the tonal music of Sonatina, sounds of old music mode are also traceable, while in its homophonic structure certain signs of dialogues with polyphonic texture can be detected. Vivid tempo and rushing motion create the impression that the piece is performed in “one breath”.

Sonatina can enrich the existing concert repertoire of clarinet duos. Without particular technical difficulties, the piece with its incessant (almost without rests) note stream requires ability in breath control, good synchronization and performance dynamism.
