Vorobyov I. Elegy in Old Style. For guitar solo

The “Elegy in Old Style” by Igor Vorobyov appeared in 2017, having been ordered by the association “Composers Concordance” (USA). It was performed on April 22, the same very year in New York (Bernie Wohl Center, soloist Jay Kaufman).

The Elegy may be specially marked as the successful embodiment of the idea, worked out by the composer, who hadn’t ever learnt all the wonders of guitar technique. The same time the guitarist is given the chance to go beyond the rules of academically organized texture and means. E. g. there are met particularly some episodes, where virtuoso performing is necessary in the segment of a neck, located higher than the twelfth fret.

Flageolets inculcated to the music texture would sound better without the left hand, when possible. Good coordination would be of great use.

The composition should be a success at the concert and educational practice. Students of senior courses in music colleges and high school are welcome to master their skill and enjoy this magic music.
