The piece «Moira» appeared in 1995. The Greek word «Moira» itself means «lot, destiny, fate», which every person is given right at the moment of coming into being. The goddess of inevitability is called Anagke. Plato indentifies her as the goddess of night. Anagke doesn' t stop twirling her spindle, which axis coincides with the Universe's one. Her daughters are inexorable Moiras. They exist for to determine а man's fate. Their dwelling is at the Olympus mount. Some of them penetrate into Anagke's behests, some are left completely in the dark. Cloto Moira spinning the vital thread of a person, defining the term of his life. When the thread is tom, the existence extinguishes. Moira Lachesis throws blindly the lots for men. No person has the power to change the predestination of moiras, for the third moira Athropos puts down her sisters' oracles to the fatal scroll, making it inescapable (N. Кun. «Myths and Legends of the Ancient Greece», 1987. Р. 22–23).

The composition, inspired by this enthrilling myth, abounds with all kinds of sonoristic piano effects, interlaced with triangles and bells. Spatial recalls pierce this strictly organized polyphonic structure depicting the dramaturgic programme. Every part corresponds to separate personage. Their names are signed inside the text. The whole composition resembles the unrestricted triple fugue, accounted with combined and divided exposition. Three themes are expounded simultaneously in its middle section. This Fugue vanishes in the eternity...

It was on November 19, 1955 at the Petersburg festival “Sound Ways”, when the “Moiras” premiere took place. Subsequently the composition has been performed by the author himself so as by the pianist Olga Skorbyashchenskaya.
