This book is the first massive writing, in which one finds a detailed research of Russian-Chinese musical connections (from beginning of 20th century to present times), their conception and formation. These connections promoted cross-fertilization and interpenetration of two great cultures. The writing is based on wide variety of literature in Russian and Chinese (including some materials that are almost beyond Russian readers reach), witness’ memoirs, archive and stock materials. One of the goals of this book is to draw mass readers’ attention to some Russian musical figures’ names, whose life’s journeys were indissolubly related to China and Chinese culture.
