Giovanni Punto, called Jan Stic, or Johann Wenzel Stich (1746–1803) originated from Bohemia and was known as the French-hornist and composer. His teacher was A. J. Hampel.
At the beginning of his career Punto served at the Count of Thun, while in 1768 he started tours along Europe as the virtuoso-soloist, practising in different European towns as the chief-conductor and violinist.
Even Mozart and Beethoven composed straight for Punto. Meanwhile among his own opuses there are 11 concertos for French-horn and numerous ensembles with French-horn.
