This collection of pieces is compiled on the base of the music schools repertoire used during the junior period of education. These miniatures are familiar to every little cellist. That's why the young musicians enjoy returning to them at the ensemble lessons.
Playing together in duet or trio with their school-mates is so attractive for children. It's really very important for them to see several parts simultaneously, accepting the vertical disposition, imagining both voices. These are exactly the first years, when there are inculcated such skills as:
— the ability of hearing unison sounding and correlation of intervals in two- voiced performing;
— understanding of rhythmical correlation between two voices;
— synchronization and orderly performing of the parts, unity of tempo and dynamics.
Having got the special schooling in ensemble playing, students are ready to join big populous groups, such as college orchestras.
