Dear young cellists and their teachers!
These are the recollections of the past to accompany any person’s adulthood. More than forty years went by since the time, when the pieces entering this publication were eagerfully performed by me. I even tried to compose variations — almost like Irina Iordan. Everything collected here was ranked among the world music masterpieces, including the educational repertoire.
Why was it decided to gather them in this collection of mine?
When I practiced as a cello teacher, I was not satisfied with the piano part in these pieces. First of all, the piano register doubled the cello one thus suppressing the solo instrument and making the whole facture too overloaded. Secondly, the piano part lacked its own melodic lines, i. e. supporting voices, imitations and counterpoints, which are really very important for dramaturgic imagination and the sense of partnership. Only good ensemble helps the student find necessary mood, rhythm and dynamic during performance. Hence I understood the new piano parts should be worked out for to improve both performing and educational aspect.
