From the compiler

Attention of students and professional musicians is invited to the second collection of solo violin duets, which includes works of recognized classics of the second half of the eighteenth century as J. F. Mazas, W. A. Mozart, G. B. Viotti, L. Spohr, Ch. Bériot and other composers known for their etudes, pieces and concerts.

The value of this collection of duets that collections from which selected works have not been reprinted. All works are original and reflect the stages in the development of violin duo.

Second collection as well as the first consists of the 5 sections. The content of the first 3 sections es aimed at learning to play in the ensemble.

Performance of such music requires extreme precision of intonation, good command of strokes, rhythmic clarity, ownership techniques such as sound attack, bow distribution, vibration, and control of the balance of sonority.

The successful performance of these sections will prepare violinists to the following sections of the collection.

The fourth section includes virtuoso duets by L. Boccherini and L. Spohr. This is the highest stage of making music together. These duets will help artists es improve their technical level in an interesting “competition” with a partner.

Especially valuable are the concert duets by Ch. Bériot (5th section). Bright, dynamic, full of beautiful melodies, timbre, coloristic variety they could undoubtedly be used in concerts and competitions.

Proposed collection greatly complement and enrich the repertoire of young performers.
