Yakov Isakovich Dubravin — composer, People’s Artist of Russia, professor of the St. Petersburg State Arts’and Culture University.
Dubravin is the graduate of the Leningrad State N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire (1962).
His creation embraces two musicals, operette, six cantatas for children’s choir. Fifteen vocal cycles, music for cinema and TV, dramatic performances, circus programmes, radio projects, compositions for choir, variety-symphonic orchestra, instrumental ensembles, about three hundred songs, more than a hundred of choral arrangements.
Yakov Dubravin is the laureate of many competitions and festivals (international, all-Union, all-Russia, Leningrad ones).
Suite-fantasy “Ot a zoy» on themes of Jewish songs was composed in Los Andgeles (1991) for the Toronto choir. First Russian performance took place at the Grand Hall of the Sankt Peterburg Philarmony.
