This collection of the Russian romances arranged for mixed choir a cappella was conceived by Pyotr Petrovich Levando and me myself more than fifteen years ago…

I’d like to recollect something about my trusty friend here in this preface. We were united by the common alma mater, the Choir College at the Leningrad State Academic Kapelle. Later we staid at the same faculty… 

The proposed publucation embraces free choral arrangements of the ever inspiring Russian romances. I tried to be scrupulous and precise, while running through them.

I hope this collection will enrich the choral stocks. The name of Pyotr Petrovich Levando is cherished and lovingly preserved by his Kapelle friends and the whole Petersburgian Society.
