Elena Turkina is the composer, member of the Composers’ Union (Russia), graduate of the Petersburg Conservatoire, working energetically and fruitfully in different genres. Among her compositions there is the symphony, several symphonic poems (“Immersion”, “Transcensus”, “On the Break Down”), symphonic pictures “Following the Rainbow” etc.

Choir as the instrument is some special activity of Elena Turkina. The conductor Stanislav Gribkov noticed once, that Elena Turkina combines innovations and classical structures. Galina Duncheva considers that Elena Turkina endows even her creations with the Russian choral nature of textual representation, i. e. sonoric effects, most diverse palette of textual parallel purports, orchestral hues in choral texture. Partially she resorts to the intonations of the romances and Russian folk songs.

Although such genres would make the whole canvas to become sentimental and petit-bourgeois, Elena Turkina is able to arrange the new and interlace it with the old. Her lyricism turns to different forms — philosophical contemplative and confessive lyrics of surrounding pastorale landscape, full of delicacy, frailty and finesse.
