Art of Guitar Ensemble. Vol. 1. Junior and middle forms of music schools

The collection for middle and senior grades of music schools “Art of Guitar Ensemble” consists of four parts: the old, the classical, the romantic and the modern music. 

The part “Old Music for Guitar Ensemble” includes the compositions, written originally for lute — the predecessor of guitar, and for clavecin — the kindred of guitar. Among these compositions there are the ones, created by J. S. Bach for organ and clavecin, however, arranged for guitar ensemble here. The part “Classical Music” is represented by Leonard de Call and two movements of his Trio C major.

The part “Romantic Music” demonstrates the “Romance for Two Guitars” by C. M. Weber and the piece by Robert Schumann. The part is completed by the Suite from Holy Ambrosius hymns of the unknown composer referring to the Baroque.

The part “Modern Music” is opened by the Catalonian Folk Song, popular among the guitarists and being arranged here for four guitars. Besides, you may get acquainted here with two duets by the English guitarist and composer H. Parkening, the piece by Igor Rekhin, arranged for two guitars; two pieces by the young composer Nikita Avlas and the “Children's Suite” by Vera Donskikh, called “From Grannie's Chest” in 4 movements.

All the pieces from this collection have a long concert practice. The fingering and strokes are given everywhere, when necessary, beside the Old Music, where both teachers and students are to perform freely. The author's indications are preserved in the modern music. The collection is addressed to both the students and all the lovers of classical guitar.
