The Petersburgian guitarist Ilya Permyakov enjoys his popularity as an executant, being also the skillful arranger and teacher. He was bom in 1959. The town Vyborg (near Petersburg) became his birth-place. It was in 1987, when Permyakov graduated from the Musorgsky Music College, where he studied at Yadviga Kovalevskaya and Yevgenia Larionova. That exact time his tours started. The 1986 brought success to Permyakov at the Third All-Russian Competition of Traditional Instruments’ Performers in Tula. Subsequently Permyakov took part in the Chelyabinsk and Moscow All-Union festivals (1991–1992). In 1984 Permyakov performed the Concerto for guitar and orchestra by Heitor Villa-Lobos at the Second International Moscow Music Festival. Eduard Serov conducted that performance. The Swedish composer Holmsted was represented by Permyakov at the Third International Leningrad Music Festival. His duet with Larisa Churayeva took part in the international festival “Sergei Oskolkov and His Friends” (Peterhof, 2001) and the same year in the festival “Land of Children”.

Ilya Permyakov hit all possible marks by the quantity of guitar compositions he performs with orchestra from stage. Among the conductors collaborating with Permyakov there are S. Sondeckis, V. and A. Chernushenko, R. Martynov, E. Serov, A. Kantorov, A. Titov etc. His repertoire embraces concertos for guitars and orchestra by Vivaldi, Bach, Albrechtsberger, Fernando Carulli, Villa-Lobos, Joaquin Rodrigo, Edison Denisov, Vladislav Uspensky, Vladimir Tsytovich etc.

Ilya Permyakov is the author of numerous publications in Russia and abroad (USA, England, France etc.). The guitarist himself edits, arranges and comments the other composers’ works’. The Petersburgian authors create their music straight for Permyakov with dedications to him.

Ilya Permyakov undertakes tours via Russia and abroad. The CD with Vivaldi concertos was recorded by him.
