The genre of symphony may be called the sphere of paramount importance in Ludwig van. Beethoven's (1770–1827) creation. The nine symphonies sееm to embrace all the periods of the composer's spiritual life. It's quite evident to reveal Beethoven's aesthetic finds and achievements in symphonic genre having influenced all the European musical tradition. Beethoven's powerful energy determined his position amongst the greatest world masters.

The Second Symphony D major, ор. 36, dating 1802 came into being during the time of hе “Heiligenstadt Тestament’s” appearance. This document was discovered in the composer's papers after his life, having been written as the kind of confession, when Beethoven had been evenly getting deaf. Meanwhile he had realized the tragical duality of his position, being full of forces and ideas. That year of 1802 had made Beethoven feel dissatisfaction with his previous compositions, hence he had violated all his connections with early Viennese classicism.

However, this symphony is still close to Mozart and Haydn's ones. Meanwhile its large-scaled construction, gigantic instrumentation nourished with abundant winds, heroic marching themes and loud contrasts which do proclaim the new symphonic style to be born.
