Anton Tanonov (born 1977) is a famous Petersburg composer and teacher. He graduated the class of People’s Artist of Russia professor Sergei Slonimsky in the St. Petersburg State Conservatory named after N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov. Since 2003 Tanonov has been teaching at the Department of Special Composition and Improvisation of the St. Petersburg Conservatory and has been leading it since 2012. During Tanonov’s work the Department had a number of transformations, and a number of new disciplines such as jazz improvisation, film music and electronic composition was added to the curriculum of the students-composers.
Anton Tanonov is the author of symphonic and chamber works, music for theater and cinema, a laureate of international and all russian composer contests. Audience especially loves his musicals “The Master and Margarita”, “The Demon of Onegin”, “Oscar and the Pink Lady” and music for the family tale “Chudo-Yudo”.
