Vyacheslav Aleksandrovich Ovchinnikov (1936–2019) is an outstanding Russian composer and conductor, the People’s Artist of RSFSR, author of many compositions
if different genres: operas, ballets, symphonic cycles and one-act symphonic pieces, chamber-instrumental, chamber-vocal and choir compositions. He is an author of music to more than 40 films, among which there are They Fought for Their Country and War and Peace by S. Bondarchuk, Andrei Rublev and Ivan’s Childhood by A. Tarkovsky, A Nobility’s Nest by A. Konchalovsky.
The compilation presents camber-instrumental art by Vyacheslav Ovchinnikov — four compositions for violin and piano. Ballad, The Japanese Poem, The Tune and Sonata (one-parted) for violin and piano were written in composer’s early age, but still they are mature and original pieces and have become parts of the repertoire of such composers as David Oistrakh, Leonid Kogan, Grigory Feygin, Oleg Kagan etc. Masterfully developed imaginal and technical abilities of the violin combined with the equal piano part filled with orchestra colors make these pieces attractive and interesting for not only violinists, but also for pianists.
The edition is intended for students of higher educational institutions and concerting pianists.
