Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756–1791) started his performing career at 6 years old. He toured all over Europe as the clavecinist-virtuoso. Mozart's First symphony dates exactly this period. Mozart was eleven years old, when he made his clavier concertos out of the sonatas by the other composers (such a kind of practice was usual for the musicians in the XVIII century, being the way of studying composition). Mzart's own concertos appeared, when he was seventeen.

Concerto No 20 d-moll belongs to the period of mature Mozart. It was composed in 1795. Then there were the operas “Le nozze di Figaro”, “Don Juan” and the triad of well-known symphonies — No 39, No 40, No 41. This concerto's imaginative sphere is peculiar to the last period of the composer's creative work.

The cadences are given in two variants: the main text contains the cadences by Johann Nepomuk Hummel (pupil of Mozart and Antonio Salieri), while the supplement demonstrates the cadences by Ludwig van Beethoven.

The Concerto is published with the edition of the distinguished Russian pianist and pedagogue Alexander Borisovich Goldenveiser (1875–1961).
