Glinka M. Pieces for piano. Volume 2

Piano works by Glinka belong to the epoch of the Russian early instrumentalism. It isn’t much, but it fascinates by honesty, sincerity, nobleness, elegance of sounding. Using the most popular genres at that time — polka, mazurka, waltz, nocturne and so on — the composer creates classical piece as Russian piano miniature. How splendid Glinka does using dancing music’s forms for embodiment of elegiac dreaming, poetic tenderness! One of the best compositions in this style is the Waltz-fantasy, which at first was written for piano and that it was arranged for orchestra. His lyric pieces — the nocturne Separation and Barcarole — are the well-known pieces for Russian audience. Glinka gains the new position the genre of variations, which was very popular in Russia and which had played a great role in the evolution of original Russia piano style.
