Vasily Sergeyevich Kalinnikov (1866–1904) — Russian composer, whose name is immortalized due to his Symphony № 1. Having been created in 1895 it is still getting under the skin as one of the pearls of the Russian symphony music.
The Compozitor Publishing House • Saint Petersburg offers your attention Kalinnikov’s piano pieces, thus turning you back to sweet halcyon days.
The composer fortuned to see only Nocturne to have been published during his life. The first full publication of Kalinnikov’s piano pieces was realized in 1960 by the “Muzgiz” publishers, now it’s considered to be the true bibliographic rarity.
Meanwhile these pieces continue lyrical tradition in the Russian piano music, first of all P. I. Tchaikovsky’s imaginative sphere. Doubtlessly, they are called forth to enrich pedagogical and concert repertoire.
