Anatoly Aleksandrovich Korolyov (born in 1949) is one of the most original and diverse modern composers. He is a graduate of the Petersburg conservatoire, where he studied choir conducting and also composition under Vladimir Tsytovich and Boris Arapov during his postgraduate years. Korolyov is an author of symphonic, cantata-oratorio, choral, organ, chamber-vocal and instrumental compositions. He is also known for his successful experiments with the electronic music. Among his most significant works there are the symphonic poem “About the Grass, Stones and Water”, oratorio to the text of the Old Russian chronicles and legends “Living of the Prince Vladimir”, choral concerto “Glory to God for Everything” to the words of Grigory Petrov's acathyst, “Adagio” for choir and string orchestra, “Grand Chant” for the strings, clavecin and percussion, electronic composition “shalyapin.wav”.

This work was composed in 1990. Its essence is very well expressed by the very its name. One can only add that guiding a tour through Russian folk music the author reveals deep love for his subject as well as excellent sense of humor and fantasy.
