Metallidi Zh. Little Paws Were Running At. Invitation to the Musicland

Zhannetta Metallidi is renown composer and teacher: she has developed comprehensive method of teaching music theory and composition for the initial period of music education. Composition and teaching are entwined in Zhannetta Metallidi’s life. 

Among her works one can find a variety of genres; she writes for chamber ensembles and symphonic orchestra, for choir and for young soloists, she composes cantatas and stage works, and all the abundance of her creativity is related to children.The present album addresses to the youngest pianists (4 years old and older). Being limited by modest skills of young pupils nevertheless these pieces are not in the least less interesting or colorful: the shortest pieces of eight bars still introduces new piano skill and clear enchanting motive followed by spicy chords. Some pieces involve quite fresh non-traditional for early piano education features, like striking the keyboard with the fist, which young pianists could not help but like immensely. Or there are ‘chords to be composed by the pupil’ like in the piece called Echo.

In Zhanna Metallidi’s pieces the musical image always gives births not only to music texture but to all the surroundings including the naming of the piece, which is always original but quite material and explicit. Also she gives small mottos to the pieces, which excite the imagination of the young pupils and helps understanding the pieces and its technical skills.
