Alexander Stetsuyk (born in 1941) — the Ukrainian composer, conductor, music teacher, author of chamber miniatures, symphonic and vocal opuses, music for theatre.
The piano cycle “Magic Dreams” is the example of the true modern music for children. This is the affluent theme of the first piece “Sunrise” serves as the intonational base of the following miniatures.
The whole cycle is divided invisibly into the kind of micro-cycles. The “St. John Traditional” and “On the Meadow” symbolize old folk customs, while the “Dwarfs' March”, “Elves' Song”, “Thumbelina's Waltz”, “Trolls' Dance”, and “Tom and Jerry” are the musical portraits of the personages from children's favourite books and cartoons. The special group of pieces consists of the “Lullaby”, “Night Fairy-Tale” and “Magic Clock”, which express the nocturnal ambiance, revealed through the beginning theme's transformation, enriched with rhythmical turns and supporting voices.
A. Stetsyuk's creation helps the young musicians to master the devices of modern music performing.
