Mikhail Trykov was born in Kostroma, Russia, in 1970 and started writing music in the spring of 1982 when he was only eleven. In 1985–1989 he completed a full course of study at the Music Theory Department of Kostroma School of Music, also attending a supplementary music composing class of Vladimir M. Perfilyev and writing more than twenty original pieces for the piano as well as the Pictures of the Old City of Kostroma Suite, two songs based on poems by the famous Russian author Fyodor Tyutchev, and the Spring Suite for the piano.

In 1992 Mikhail Trykov entered M. Glinka Conservatory of Music in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, and joined the music composition class of Professor Аrkady А. Nesterov. During his time in the Conservatory Mikhail wrote a number of preludes, twelve tone compositions, romances based on poems by H. W. Longfellow, choral pieces on Biblical themes (Matins and The Last Supper), a quartet for woodwind instruments, choral pieces based on poems by Mikhail Lermontov and Mikhail Lomonosov, and a monolog for bass Quiet Is My Voice. As his graduation composition he presented the Russian Overture, performed in 1997 by the Nizhny Novgorod Philharmonic orchestra with its music director Аlexander Skulsky conducting.

In 2002–2005 Mikhail Trykov completed the post-graduate program at P. I. Tchaikovsky State Conservatory of Music in Moscow, studying in the music composition class of Professor Тatyana Chudova and writing several series of romances based on poetry by outstanding Russian authors Fyodor Tyutchev, Sergei Esenin, Vasiliy Zhukovsky, and Аleksei Тolstoy, as well as a number of twelve tone compositions, a piano toccata, the Bhairava Quartet for two violins, viola and cello, his First Symphony The Tale of the Moo Country, and several pieces for an opera based on Mikhail Lermontov’s Ballad of Merchant Kalashnikov.

At the present time Mikhail works as an accompanist at N. Nekrasov State University in Kostroma, Russia.
