Vladimir TSYTOVICH (b. 1931) — graduate of the Leningrad Conservatoire (1958), where he studied composition with professor Boris Arapov, so as piano — with professor Isaya Braudo. Since 1961 he started his pedagogical career at the St. Petersburg Conservatoire, where he was appointed a professor title. Among his compositions there are 4 symphonies, instrumental concertos for different casts, chamber music, so as the children’s one, being performed not only in Russia, but also in France, Germany, Italy, USA...
Piano cycle “Six Concert Pieces” refers to 1966, being dedicated to Anatoly Ugorsky. The composition is intended for professional pianists. It’s used to be presented both as a whole and in parts. Its final movement “Toccata” is especially liked on the concert stage.
The cycle is known to have been presented by Anatoly Ugorsky. Among the other performers it’s worth to remember Sedmara Zakarian, Andrey Forostyany, Anna Shpagina. “Six Concert Pieces” are a success both in Russia and abroad. The first edition was realized in 1971.
