Poddubny S. Comp. Russian Arabesques. Piano Miniatures by the Russian Composers

Piano miniature plays important role in the performers’ syllabus. Why it is so? The size of a miniature dictates compact image, clear thought, wholesome intention, it is almost ‘printscreen’ of general music process. Moreover, notwithstanding the minute sizes of such pieces the scope and diversity of their images is notable. This genre does not dictate forms, the music material just flows improvisation-like, like free narration.

This album is compiled by principle of easy choice. All pieces in album are of approximately the same difficulty, the same size, the same genre, notwithstanding the fact that the earliest of them were written in XIX century and the latest more than a hundred years later. The path of the development of the Russian piano miniature is clearly seen through the time.

Many pieces in this collection are published for the first time, and those of miniatures written in XIX century were chosen that are not yet too well known. The impression is fresh and our Publishing house advices all amateurs and professional musicians to choose something after one’s heart from this album.
