Solovyov V. Comp. Russian salons. Pieces. Vol. 1

Today Russian classical music landscape again includes the form of salon concerts –musical gatherings focused on small group of enlightened amateurs where the intimacy of the event influences direct communication between performers and listeners.

Notwithstanding the highest cultural and intellectual level of such gatherings in XIX-beginning of XX centuries, not only the latest new pieces were performed there but also ‘light’ music, the music for relaxation: easy undemanding pieces of sentimental character.
The present album in two parts continues the series of editions that was commenced with the album of Russian waltzes. 

Long forgotten names inhabit pages of this album, such as Ivan Laskovsky, Arseny Koreschenko, Felix Blumenfeld, Flexander Kopylov. And among them Musorgsky but unexpectedly smooth and sweet, almpst Tchaikovsky-like: Childhood reminiscences, Nanny ad me. The famous romance by Glinka I remember the wonderful moment is arranged for piano (and it shed none of its salon features). One can find virtuoso pieces here as well: Polka by Balakirev, Nocturne by Fild.
