Being the great composer, tireless collector, and connoisseur of folk songs, Вélа Bartók tried himself in all possible genres. Не composed operas, ballets, so as symphonic, choral and chamber works.

The greatest attention did Bartók pay to piano works. They are different in character and form. Bartók succeeded to work out his own original piano style, distinct for fresh harmonious language, confidence of tone comparisons, frequency of metre changes, harshness of sounding.

The “Evening in а Village” from the collection “Ten Easy Pieces” is а masterpiece of Bartók’s tuneful style. The Suite, op. 14, was written in 1916, consisting of four little movements. Some elements of folk songs are going alongside with original creative methods. Romanian Folk Dances were composed the same time with the Suite. Here Bartók expands melodious folk themes' outlines and introduces the collection of interesting harmonic-polyphonic accompaniment.
