Prokofiev S. Sarcasms, op. 17. For Piano

The cycle of Sarcasms, op. 17, was completed by Sergei Prokofiev in 1914. The author's first performance took place in Petrograd on December 10, 1916. The cycle was first published by the Jurenssohn publishing house in 1916. The Sarcasms were composed at a time when the psychological motifs in Prokofiev's work became more profound. The composer said this work was among those of his compositions in which he “was striving for a language to express intense emotions”. Consequently, here are more author's notes for the performer here, indicating the tempo and the character of music. The performer must therefore be attentive and may need the help of a dictionary.
