The piano works of the great Russian composer Sergei Rakhmaninov (1873–1943) occupy а significant place in the repertoire of pianists throughout the world not only thanks to their poetical nature and emotional directness and the beauty of the music itself, but also thanks to the composer's unique use of the piano's virtuoso potential. As part of the series The Pianist's Golden Repertoire, the St. Petersburg Publishing House “Composer” is issuing Rakhmaninov's works in three volumes: Six Moments Musicaux, op. 16 (1896), the Preludes, op. 23 (1902) and 32 (1910), and the Etudes-tableaux, ор. 33 (1911) and 39 (1917).
