The triade “Gaspar de lа Nuit” (Gaspard is one of the French nick-names for an evilspirit) was composed by М. Ravel in 1908 and performed for the first time by the pianist Richardo Vines on January 9th, 1909, then it was issued by Durand's publishing house. The triade is based on three poems in prose from the cycle under the same name by the French poet Aloysius Bertrand (1807–1841).
