Tchaikovsky P. Waltzes for piano

Tchaikovsky lived during the golden waltzing age, when this dance caught everybody's fancy, being spread in all its embodiments, still favourite and danced. That was waltz's flourishment. That exact time the genre of waltz entered the sonata-symphonic cycle as its movement in Tchaikovsky's creation. Thus it became not just “serious academical music”, music for listening — it attained and real symphonic development. 

Tchaikovsky created many various waltzes, besides the symphonies, they are met in his ballets, operas, piano cycles (“Children's Album”, “The Seasons”...). This collection represents nine waltzes by Tchaikovsky, which refer to different periods of his life.
