Continuing to publish the series of the “Pianist's Golden Repertoire” the St. Petersburg Publishing House “Composer” includes in it the edition of selected piano works by the great German composer Robert Schumann (1810–1856), which will include his most significant compositions for piano.

The Fantasiestücke, op. 12 (1837), are amongst the composer's most popular works. They form а cycle of program miniatures revealing the passions and poetry of this remarkable romantic musician. Here we find landscape, drama and the whims or his joyfully playful feelings, both awake and asleep. It is precisely in this sense (the fruit of the artist's free imagination) that the pieces are entitled “fantasy” pieces.
This edition is based on A. B. Goldenweiser's editorship.
