Yuri Maevsky is a well-known pianist and teacher, a versatile musician, is interested in many genres and styles. Apart from the transcriptions of the Russian folk songs and popular romances published in this collection, Maevsky is the author of numerous arrangements for piano and two pianos. Maevsky uses the entire range of piano potential in order to bring out the artistic and emotional ccharacter of each composition.
