The present edition of the BWV 1001 Sonata for Solo Violin No. 1 in G Minor is based on manuscripts in the State Library of Berlin, presumably handwritten by Johann Sebastian Bach himself and his wife, Anna Magdalena Bach. Being “three-in-one” edition, it includes:
— the original Bach Urtext without any later markings,
— a technologically adapted edition (close to K. Mostras’ version however brought nearer to the present time) made by L. Grauman, and
— a historically oriented edition by M. Krestinskaya that facilitates the approach to the Bach’s original text, taking into account the traditions and performance rules adopted during the J. S. Bach’s time.
