Rodolphe Kreutzer (1766–1831) — the French violinist, composer, conductor and teacher. Being the disciple of A. Stamitz, Kreutzer started his service as the first violinist at the Court Kapelle in 1783. Later he was appointed the chamber virtuoso at the court of Napoleon I and then Louis XVIII. Kreutzer had many tours over Europe.

Among Kreutzer's compositions there are numerous operas, violin concertos string quartets, trios and others of mostly different genres and for various casts. Ludwig van Beethoven appreciated the great performer's skill very much. Remember the so-called “Kreutzer-Sonata” op. 47, dedicated by the giant of piano to the master of violin.

Rodolphe Kreutzer was the professor of the Paris Conservatoire, founder of its classical trend. Together with P. Rode and P. Baillot he created the work “Violin Method” and the collection “42 Etudes and Caprices”. These opuses gave birth to new trends in the violin pedagogics. Kreutzer's etudes from the collection take mostly significant place in the process of any violinist's technical mastering.
