The 24 Caprices for Solo Violin', Op. 1 was written by Niccolo Paganini between 1802 and 1817 and published in 1819. The caprices have a form of studies, with each caprice dedicated to individual skills (double stopped trills, certain stroke and other specific violin techniques) Paganini began composing the caprices after completing his study in Parma with Pietro Locatelli.

Edition Peters first published them in 1819; Ricordi later published another edition in 1821. When Paganini released his caprices, he dedicated them "to the Artists" rather than to a specific person.

Paganini's Caprices are the keystone of the violinist professional skilles.

Edited by A. Jampolsky (founder of the contemporary Soviet violin school), with his fingering and strokes this edition represent the whole epoch of violin thinking, that being of a great interest for any serious violin player.
