In general, “Interrupted Variations” for violin and piano are written in a traditional form. However, the author introduces into the musical text a number of innovations, allowing to allocate this work among the plurality of character variations.

1. Normally, the theme of variations exhibited in the form of a monologue by solo instrument, but in the “Interrupted Variations” the line of a dialogue belongs to violin and piano. Pay attention to the fact that the opening movement of the dialogue belongs to the accompanying piano, as well as its final bars.

2. In the third and sixth variations the composer offers to violinist flageolets as trills between the main tones and overtones.

3. Between the sixth and seventh variations author puts the detailed cadence, which is typical for a concert, but not for variations.

As for technical difficulties, “Interrupted Variations” were first performed by 11th-grade pupil of Children’s School of Arts.
