From the author

This is my second concerto for violin and orchestra. The idea to composeit came from Vadim Repin and Andres Mustonen.
Why I gave this title to the concerto?
I afforded myself to quote a famous phrase from St. Matthew’s Gospel for two reasons.
First: the concerto was commissioned to me by Trans-Siberian Art Festival, and for the first time has to be performed in Novosibirsk. So, that fact itself made me to think about East during the working process.
Second: and this is the most important, — culturological aspect. Living for many years in Western Europe, I came to the following conclusion.
Each text, including musical one, has something like two levels of transmission:
   а) information;
   b) expression.
In Western culture informative way of thinking prevails since a long time. Expression is mostly repressed.
On the contrary, in Eastern culture predominates expression as a way of thinking. Information is mostly repressed.
Inflation of informative way of thinking in music became obvious for me.
An overdose of information paradoxically leads us to “misinformation” of a listener.
And I believe, that East as general way of thinking can bring in the development of music a real fresh air, which is so missing now.
