The great musician — violinist, teacher and composer — Veniamin Sher (1900–1962) belongs to the most brilliant disciples of Leopold Auer’s school.
Sher’s heritage as a composer is diverse and ample. He wrote 2 violin concertos, 4 quartets and other works. His Virtuoso studies can be considered as a true model of their author’s performing and pedagogical skill, manifesting the development of the featured etude genre.
The world known violinist and conductor, Vladimir Spivakov is among his pupils.
This Children’s Concerto written probably not long before the death of the composer was found in the archives of Veniamin Sher by his another prominent pupil, Vladimir Ovcharek, the late leader of the St Petersburg Philharmonic orchestra and professor at the St Petersburg Conservatoire.
