Dmitry Mikhailovich Tsyganov (1903–1992) — the Russian violinist and teacher, People's Artist of Russia, professor of the Moscow Conservatoire, leader of the Beethoven String Quartet since 1923.
Tsyganov transcribed nineteen preludes from the cycle 24 Preludes for Piano op. 34 by D. D. Shostakovich and since then those transcriptions became an obligatory part of any violinis repertoire.
