“The Art of the Bow, or 50 Variations on the Theme by Corelli’s gavotte” by Giuseppe Tartini (1692–1770) was written in 1720. This work is the most comprehensive collection of the bowing technique of the XVIII century.

There exist several editions of this piece, the most known is an edition made by the famous violinist of XIX century, Ferdinand David (1810–1873). This is exactly the edition the present edition is based upon. The present work is the first where general bass was deciphered and fully printed. It is made by S-Petersburg prominent composer and baroque player, Grigory Korchmar (b. 1947).

The present edition is aimed at the College and Conservatoire students as well as concert artists.
