Vladimir Mikhaylovich Deshevov (1889–1955) is the Russian composer become famous especially in the 1920s and 1930s. His greatest works are strikingly theatrical, laconic and colourful.

The Aria is based on the violin solo from the ballet Dzhebella (1925).
