This playbook is a wide panorama of the pedagogical repertoire for the clarinet and the pianoforte. The three volume edition is comprised of both widely known transcriptions of the works by Beethoven, Weber, Rimsky-Korsakov, Tchaikovsky, Rakhmaninov so as transcriptions and original pieces by Mozart, Cavallini, Milhaud, Bach, Kroepsch, Doga and Metallidi which are published in Russia for the first time. Such a non-trivial selection will help students not only master various types of the technique of performance, but also expand their creative spectrum.

The teachers of contestants participating in competitions and review competitions held by the Public Educational Institution of further professional education, Saint-Petersburg Training Methodological Centre for Education of the Committee for Culture, will find virtually the full list of competition pieces.

The playbook is conditionally divided into parts. Pursuant to the new educational basic plans and the model program for the speciality “Instrumental Performance” (the major or abridged course depending on a student’s capabilities), the teacher can easily use the pieces of music from both the first and the third parts of the playbook for classes with the students and from the second part for classes with senior students. The third part includes pieces of music of advanced complexity designed to performed by the graduates of educational institutions, the prospective students and students of specialized secondary educational institutions (musical colleges and lycees).

With the purpose of mastering the melodic intonation and correct phrasing by the students, the playbook’s author introduced the marks of changing respiration (v) and edited bowings in all the pieces of music.

The playbook is recommended to be published by the Training Centre, Public Educational Institution of further professional education of the City Methodological Sections of the Department of Teachers of Wind and Percussion Instruments as a schoolbook for musical schools for children and arts schools for children.
